I have this "thing" for
really old thatched roofed houses... here are a few photos I've taken around
Denmark of some I thought were interesting. Apparently if you live in one of
these you have to be prepared to have the roof redone every 70 years or so and
I've been told it's reasonably expensive. Also, your fire insurance can get
pretty spendy. What I'm surprised at is that there are still people who can even
thatch a roof any more... bet Bob Villa can't do it! |

| As long as I'm on the subject... more or less... of architecture. Here are some various pictures of various nifty places & buildings. | |||||

| Amailienborg
Slot is where the Queen lives when she's in town. I took the first photo towards
evening looking through towards the big church called Marmorkirken. The doorway
is just a nifty entrance I saw on a street a block away from the palace, you can
see the yard inside and the part of the old house there. Rosenborg Slot was
built during the reign of Christian IV as a "country home" (it's
right in the heart of the city now...) How things change in only 350
years.
I have bunches more pictures to put up... I am going to try and limit myself to a page a day... Lise is anxious that I put up some of the photos I have of her - but she (and you) will just have to be patient. |
